Two Hours a Week for the Nation: 640th Edition of Bagmati Cleanup Campaign Concludes Successfully
Kathmandu, Shankhamul —
Embracing the spirit of the campaign “Two Hours a Week for the Nation”, the 640th edition of the Bagmati Cleanup Mega Campaign and the Bagmati Maha Jal Jatra Week was successfully conducted on Saturday along the banks of the Bagmati River in Shankhamul.
The event witnessed the special participation of renowned artists Hari Bansha Acharya and Madan Krishna Shrestha, who joined hands with the public in the cleanup efforts. Also present were Lalitpur Metropolitan City Deputy Mayor Manjari Shrestha, Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee’s Project Chief Prakash Aryal, River Conservation Foundation President Megh Ale, and Coordinator of the Bagmati Maha Jal Jatra, Rajiv Poudel, among other dignitaries from various sectors.
Students from Night Angels School, teachers and students from the local Shankhamul Gurukul, Deuda singer Sapana Shahi, a rafting team, and employees of the Bagmati Committee actively participated in the cleanup initiative.
After the cleanup, the collected non-biodegradable waste was managed properly with support from the Environment Division of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Teku.
The event was followed by cultural performances, a rafting showcase, and a tree plantation program.
The Bagmati Maha Jal Jatra Week concluded successfully, conveying a strong message of clean water, a healthy environment, and shared responsibility.
Special appreciation was extended to the event coordinators Megh Ale and Rajiv Poudel for their leadership and successful organization.
