Kathmandu, June 2025 – The team of the Nepali film Balidan, which is releasing on the this Dashain of solidarity for environmental protection, joined hands with the volunteers of the Bagmati Mega Campaign, which recently reached a remarkable milestone: 633 weeks of participation with dedicated river cleaning and tree planting activities, garnering enthusiastic participation.
Launched over a decade ago as a citizens’ movement to revive the ecological and cultural significance of the sacred Bagmati River, the campaign has evolved into Nepal’s longest-running environmental initiative. Every Saturday, volunteers from all walks of life gather along the riverbanks to remove waste, plant trees, and raise public awareness about the importance of preserving this historic waterway.
The participation of the Balidan movie team added extra energy and visibility to this week’s event, inspiring youth and film enthusiasts alike to engage in environmental stewardship. Organizers praised the campaign’s longevity, crediting it to the tireless efforts of local communities, civic organizations, and the continued involvement of new supporters like the film industry.
