Two Hours a Week for the Nation

Kathmandu, Shankhamul,
Embracing the spirit of the national campaign “Two Hours a Week for the Nation”, the 641st edition of the Bagmati Cleanup Mega Campaign and the Bagmati Maha Jal Jatra Week concluded successfully on Saturday along the banks of the Bagmati River in Thapathali.

The event witnessed the special participation of Bagmati Province Chief Minister Mr. Indra Bahadur Baniya, who joined hands with the public in the cleanup efforts. Also present were former Chief Secretary and pioneer of the Bagmati Cleaning Campaign Mr. Leelamani Paudyal, renowned Deuda singer Sapana Shahi, Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee’s Project Chief Prakash Aryal, River Conservation Foundation President Megh Ale, and Coordinator of the Bagmati Maha Jal Jatra Rajiv Poudel, alongside other dignitaries from various sectors.

Following the cleanup, the non-biodegradable waste collected was systematically managed with the support of the Environment Division of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Teku. The day’s program was further enriched with cultural performances, a rafting showcase, and a tree plantation initiative, adding vibrancy to the environmental cause. The Bagmati Maha Jal Jatra Week concluded on a high note, delivering a strong message of clean water, a healthy environment, and shared responsibility.

Special appreciation was extended to Megh Ale and Rajiv Poudel for their leadership and effective coordination in making the campaign a success.
